Modern devices are usually things that are endlessly hyped and hidden behind a carefully-crafted app that restricts your access to a thing that you’ve already bought.
The things that we make at veeb projects are shaped by a reaction against closed hardware. We share the code we use, and try to leave space for people to improve on what we’ve done. Making our stuff open-source means that we aim to maximize utility, rather than profit.
Fob is a nice little example of our philosophy.
We had an idea, made some prototypes, broke some stuff, got things working smoothly
It uses existing tools (established apps, rather than one we built)
As soon as we had a workflow that achieved our goal, we published it and popped it in the shop window.
